Map of the Day: Upper Midwest had Best Census Participation Rate

Michael Barone wrote that Wisconsin is “solid country, a producer of milk, butter and cheese, Kleenex, Mercury outboard motors, and military trucks” (and is also the American birthplace of the Ottenhoff family). Wisconsinites are also apparently solid as a rock in mailing back their Census forms.

Census Bureau Maps Out Likelihood of Participation

In anticipation of the Census that kicks off April, 2010, the Census Bureau has rated every county in the nation based on its likelihood to respond to the Census questionnaire.  Counties that are expected to have the lowest response rates will have the highest portion of marketing resources devoted to them.
