I don’t know much about Detroit beyond the Red Wings and auto industry, so if anyone else can interpret this map better than me, please chime in. What is up with the few precincts in south Detroit that Bing lost?
From the Detroit News: “The blue precincts represent those won by [Ken] Cockrel. The pink are Bing precincts where he got more than 50 percent and less than 60 percent of the vote. The red are precincts where he got 60 percent or more.”

This map suggests a correlation by race. Cockrel wins nearly all the precincts that are less than 75% people of color.

Those precincts are mostly majority Hispanic, as opposed to black. The city is 84% black.
