The Virginia Senate Map You’ve Been Waiting For

OK, Virginia political junkies, I’ve got Senate District 37 map you’ve all been waiting for. For you non-Virginia folk, or you Fairfax County rookies, state Sen. Ken Cuccinelli (R) held this district by less than 100 votes against School Board member Janet Olezsek (D).

Cuccinelli had a huge target on his back because he’s much more conservative than most of his constituents in this moderate suburban district. But, as the map suggests, he ran up the vote in conservative precincts like Bull Run, and gave Olezsek a fight in swing precincts.

Just to give you an idea of the partisan leanings of some of this district, I’ve also posted a map of Gov. Tim Kaine (D) vs. Jerry Kilgore (R) in the 37th in their 2005 battle for governor. But keep in mind, it’s a relatively new phenomena that some of these precincts are going blue.

Visit PatrickOttenhoff.com to view these maps in their full size.
